안티-셀프: 나에 반하여 Undoing Oneself .

Group Exhibition

ARKO Art Center, Seoul (South Korea)

08–10.2025

Ha Cha Youn, '안티-셀프: 나에 반하여 Undoing Oneself', Exposition collective, 2025

Five artists were invited to present older or more recent works, revisited today.

Ha Cha Youn presents "Jjockbang – Room-House-Village", an installation that is both autobiographical and socially engaged.

A 12 m² wooden-slat structure, at the scale of a room, is divided into four sections. In each part, Ha brings together still and moving images –made in Korea, France, and Germany– tracing her personal trajectory.

The plant pots Winter Pots with seeds packets placed on the soil, suggest the gesture of sowing. They are ordinary Korean plants, sometimes unavailable in Europe.

The video Consigne (Paris, 2005-2006) shows makeshift objects temporarily placed in tree branches, projected onto a wall that functions as a protective tree at the entrance of the "village".

The term “Jjockbang” (“small room”) refers to the living spaces created during and after the Korean War to house refugees, still occupied today by low-income residents, elderly people, or migrant workers.

Finally, with Living in ARKO, Ha Cha Youn presented an in-situ performance during the exhibition.
